Author Rooms

Author Rooms

The Key to the City.

  • Background

Author Rooms is a boutique hotel located in a historic townhouse at Lwowska 17 in Warsaw. It was created for travelers seeking a unique, authentic experience of the city, beyond tourist clichés, immersed in the local rhythm and atmosphere.
  • Challenge

To design a visual identity that reflects the hotel’s local, independent spirit and captures the essence of a Warsaw rarely seen in guidebooks.
  • Insight

Warsaw is a city of hidden layers. It has no single center and no single narrative. For outsiders, it may seem elusive but for insiders, it’s full of energy and excitement. You have to understand its rhythm to truly fall in love with it.
  • Solution

We designed a flexible identity system that, like Warsaw, escapes rigid structure. At its core is a key-shaped symbol, echoing the logo of Mamastudio. More than just a universal emblem of hospitality, the key serves as a metaphor for access: a personal promise from Autor Rooms to unlock a different view of Warsaw.

The graphic system plays with multiple color variations and patterns that blend seamlessly into communication materials, combining hand-drawn illustrations with stone-inspired motifs. These visual cues reference the history of the building, which once housed a stonemason’s workshop. The result? A visual identity that combines hospitality with a strong local context - open, vibrant, and deeply rooted in place.
